Christoph Ernst Prediger was a bookbinder born in Anspach (Ansbach), Germany in 1701 and died in 1768. He is known for publishing the first exhaustive book on bookbinding, Der in aller heut zu Tag üblichen Arbeit wohl anweisende accurate Buchbinder und Futteralmacher, in four volumes from 1741 to 1753. Each volume was extensively illustrated. He also published a manual for bookbinders, which is considered the oldest of its kind. Prediger's work has been influential in the field of bookbinding and has been translated into many languages.
