Ernst Seger was a German sculptor and medallist born in Neurode, Provinz Schlesien (now Wroclaw, Poland) in 1868 and died in Berlin, Germany in 1939. He studied sculpture at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts in Breslau under Robert Härtel from 1884 to 1886. He is known for his sculptures and medals, including the famous 'Lovers' sculpture created in 1920. Seger's works are characterized by their naturalism and attention to detail, and he is considered one of the most important German sculptors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
