Renato Esquivel Romero is a Mexican visual artist born in Mexico City in 1964. He is a professor at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and has a PhD in Arts from the same institution. He is a mixed media artist whose works often combine seemingly contrasting fragments such as European Renaissance with Pre-Columbian iconography, or images from different cultures and times. His works have been exhibited in various museums and galleries, including the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago and the LALUZ Gallery in Los Angeles. He has also been a professor at the UNAM for over 30 years and has served as a tutor in the Doctorate in Arts program. He is known for his research into Language on Painting and his exhibition 'Fragmentos (tambien conocido como Anunciacion)'. He is also the author of the thesis 'Reflexiones pictóricas de tres obras de Balthus : un proceso teórico-práctico'.
