Frei Cipriano da Cruz, also known as Manuel de Sousa, was a Portuguese Benedictine monk and sculptor born in Braga in approximately 1645. He was one of the most important Portuguese sculptors of his time, known for his work in wood, stone, and clay. Frei Cipriano's style combined elements of the Baroque and the Rococo, and his work was characterized by its elegance and attention to detail. He died in Mire de Tibães in 1716.
