สถานที่: Chios

ชีวประวัติ:

Geneleos was a Greek sculptor from Chios, who was active in the late 6th century BC. He is known for his work on the korai of the Acropolis of Athens, which are a group of female statues discovered in the Perserschutt of the Acropolis of Athens in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. These korai are of the same typology and clear votive function, and through them it is possible to trace the stylistic evolution of Archaic Attic sculpture for almost a century, from 570 to 480 BC. Geneleos' work demonstrates in particular the beginning and development of Ionian influence on Athenian art of the second half of the 6th century BC, as well as the development of the Severe style towards the end of the 6th century BC. Geneleos died in 480 BC.
