Giuseppe Maria Varotti was born in Bologna, Italy in 1715 and died in 1780. He was an Italian painter who was active in a late-Baroque or Rococo style. He trained with his father, Pier Paolo Varotti, and painted a St Roch in the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Carpi. One of his pupils was Jacopo Alessandro Calvi. He painted the main altarpiece in the church of Santa Maria Annunziata di Fossolo in Bologna, an 18th-century Annunciation.
