Guan Wei is a Chinese-Australian artist born in 1957. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Beijing Capital University and moved to Australia in 1989. Guan Wei has held over 40 solo exhibitions and his work explores the presentation of superimposed forms, conflicts between mankind, nature, and human civilization, as well as the blending and integration of different cultures. His paintings are a reflection of his rich cultural repertory of symbols and his informed socio-political awareness, born of his experience of the contrasting realities of his former home, China, and his new home, Australia.
