Hazra Chitrakar is an artist from Naya, West Bengal, India. She is known for her work in the art form of Patachitra, a traditional Bengali art form that involves creating scroll paintings on cloth. Hazra Chitrakar is primarily self-taught and learned the art form from her family. She and her husband, Madhu Chitrakar, have used the medium of Patachitra to illustrate themes beyond Indian folklore, including modern and political subjects. Hazra Chitrakar's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums internationally, including the Tate library's Special Collection in London. She has also been recognized with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India, for her contributions to the arts.
