Horacio Garcia Rossi was an Argentine-born French artist and a prominent figure in the op art and kinetic art movements. He was born on July 24, 1929, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and died on September 5, 2012, in Paris, France. Garcia Rossi began his artistic education at the Escuela de Publicidad de Buenos Aires in 1935 and later studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires from 1950 to 1957. In 1959, he moved to Paris, where he became a founding member of the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel (GRAV) in 1960. Garcia Rossi's work is characterized by its use of optical illusions, geometric shapes, and movement. His paintings, sculptures, and installations often create the impression of depth, vibration, or flicker, challenging the viewer's perception of reality. Garcia Rossi's art is influenced by his interest in mathematics, physics, and cybernetics, as well as his fascination with the relationship between art and technology. Throughout his career, he has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. His art is part of important public and private collections worldwide.
