Jan Styfi (1841-1921) was a Polish artist, known for his work as a drzeworytnik (wood engraver) in Warsaw. He was one of the most accomplished ksylografów (xylographers) in Poland, and is considered to be one of the most important figures in the history of Polish drzeworytnictwo (wood engraving). Styfi was the founder and organizer of several zakładów drzeworytniczych (wood engraving workshops) in Warsaw, and was also a pedagog, teaching the art of drzeworytnictwo to many students. He is best known for his portraits of famous Poles, including Mikołaj Kopernik, Jadwiga Andegaweńska, and Bona Sforza d’Aragona.
