Johann Christian Frisch, also known as Johann Christoph Frisch, was a German painter born in Berlin in 1738 and died in the same city in 1815. He was a pupil of Christian Bernhard Rode and studied at Rome. He became a court painter and director of the Academy, producing numerous ceilings in the palaces of Berlin, Potsdam, and Sans Souci, as well as portraits, mythological representations, and scenes from the life of Frederick II of Prussia. He is known for his painting 'Friedrich der Große und der Marquis d´Argens beim Gruftbau in Sanssouci' (1802).
