José Pedro Roque Gameiro Martins Barata is a Portuguese architect, urbanist, and graphic artist. He was born on May 20, 1929, in Lisbon, Portugal. Martins Barata studied architecture at the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes de Lisboa and worked in various fields, including architecture, illustration, and planning. He collaborated with his father, Jaime Martins Barata, on a fresco for the Capela de Nossa Senhora de Fátima da Igreja de Santo Eugénio in Rome. Martins Barata has also worked as a professor at several institutions, including the Instituto Superior Técnico and the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He was appointed as the consultor artístico dos CTT in 1969 and held various positions in the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research. Martins Barata is known for his work in the field of postal design and has created several artworks, including 'Distribuição Domiciliária' in 1963.
