Lavanya Mani is an Indian artist born in 1977 in Hyderabad, India. She obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in painting from the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai. In 2001, she received her Ph.D from the Department of Fine Arts at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Mani is known for her use of traditional Indian craft and textile techniques, such as kalamkari, embroidery, tie and dye, appliqué, and batik, in her works. She explores the histories of power dynamics and trade that affect current social issues. Mani's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in India and internationally, and she has received several awards and recognitions for her contributions to the art world.
