Marthe Vesque was a French artist and one of the Vesque Sisters, known for documenting circus life and performances through her paintings. She attended weekly shows at Parisian circuses and variety theaters with her sister Juliette, where they sketched live performances. Marthe's records constitute a unique documentation of European circus in the first half of the twentieth century. In addition to her work on the circus, she was also a professional artist who hand-painted floral decorations on china at the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres and later worked at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, depicting natural history specimens.
