Nuno Albuquerque Morais Sarmento is a Portuguese politician and lawyer. He was born on January 31, 1961, in Lisbonne, Portugal. He graduated in law from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in 1984. Sarmento has been a member of the Social Democratic Party (PPD/PSD) and served as Minister of the Presidency between 2002 and 2005. He is also an advocate and currently works for the PLMJ - A. M. Pereira, Sáragga Leal, Oliveira Martins, Júdice & Associados law firm. In addition to his political career, Sarmento has been open about his personal struggles with cancer, having undergone 12 surgeries and spent time in intensive care.
