Ohi Toshio, also known as Ohi TyouzaemonXI, is a Japanese visual artist, designer, lecturer, judge and member of numerous associations. He was born in 1958 in Kanazawa, Japan. Ohi Toshio is the 11th generation of his family's lineage and is known for his work in Ōhi ware, a type of Japanese pottery that originated in the area around the village of Ōhi, which is a suburb of Kanazawa. He studied at Boston University from 1981 to 1984 and has had his work collected in the USA, Brazil, Europe, Asia and Japan. He is also a visiting professor at Rochester Institute of Technology and a member of the Japan Inter-Design Forum. Ohi Toshio is known for his illustrations in bowls and other items for tea ceremonies, both utilitarian and decorative. He had his first solo exhibition, 'Transend' at Whitestone Gallery Taipei in 2019. He is also known for his artwork 'Spiral Galaxy' created in 2015 in ceramic medium.
