ชีวประวัติ:

Takis Marthas, born in Lavrio in 1905 and passing away in Athens in 1965, was a multifaceted artist who made significant contributions to the fields of architecture and art. He pursued his studies in architecture at the National Technical University from 1924 to 1929, and his passion for drawing led him to teach at the Biotechnic School of Athens, following a recommendation from Dimitris Pikionis. His dedication to education extended to his role as a lecturer and later as a professor at the National Technical University, where he imparted his knowledge of descriptive and projective geometry, perspective sketching, and freehand drawing. Takis’ artistic journey was marked by a transition from figurative painting, influenced by fauvism and expressionism, to abstraction in the 1950s. This shift allowed him to experiment with materials, introducing a structural texture to his painting surfaces and infusing symbolism into his works. His compositions took on a constructivist character, reflecting his innovative approach to art. Throughout his career, Takis received numerous accolades, including first prizes in Panhellenic competitions and the Diplome d’Honneur at the Salon de l’Art Libre in Paris in 1959. His work was showcased in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, with notable participation in the Sao Paolo Biennale of 1961. Even after his passing, his artistic legacy lived on through retrospectives at the Municipal Gallery of Thessaloniki in 1990 and the Municipal Gallery of Athens in 1991.
