Pavel Ovchinnikov, also known as Pavel Ovtchinnikov, was a renowned Russian silversmith and enameller born in Moscow province. He founded his own atelier in 1850 and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional skills. In 1865, he participated in an exhibition in Moscow and was awarded a prize for his work. This exposure led to his appointment as the official supplier of precious metals to the imperial court by Tsar Alexander III. Ovchinnikov's reputation continued to grow, and his creations gained popularity both domestically and internationally. He is credited with reviving champlevé, cloisonné, and plique-à-jour enamelling techniques in Russia. Pavel Ovchinnikov passed away in 1888.
