Robyn Kahukiwa is a New Zealand artist, author, and illustrator. She was born in Auckland in 1940 and is known for her significant collection of paintings, books, prints, drawings, and sculptures. Kahukiwa is a member of the Haeata Māori Women Arts Collective, which was formed in 1983 to produce a Māori 'herstory' publication. She has also worked with other Māori artists and writers, including Patricia Grace and Bruce Stewart, to expand the membership of the collective to include artists, weavers, performers, and composers of traditional and contemporary waiata. Kahukiwa's work often explores Māori life and culture, including the impact of Pākehā and other cultures on Māori. She has won numerous awards for her contributions to literature and the arts, including the Kiriyama Prize, the Neustadt International Prize for Literature, and an Icon Award from the Arts Foundation of New Zealand for extraordinary lifetime achievement.
