Ruby Bailey, also known as Ruby Hyacinth Bailey, was born in Bermuda in 1905. She was a Bermuda-born artist and fashion designer who lived in Harlem, New York until her death in 2003. Bailey was known for her graphic art and fashion illustrations, and left behind a legacy through dolls she's created, an expression of the vibrancy and culture of Harlem. In 2004, the Museum of the City of New York acquired a collection of her clothing and fashion mannequins. Bailey is also known for her 'Afrocentric' ensemble comprising coat and tunic, created in 1963-1966.
