Turi Simeti, also known as Salvatore Simeti, was an Italian painter born in Alcamo, Sicily, Italy in 1929. He was affiliated with Spatialism and the ZERO group. Simeti moved to Rome in 1958 and became active in the art scene. He played an active role in the Zero art movement of the 1960s and 1970s and is considered a true pioneer of 20th and 21st Century Italian art. Minimalist in conception, Simeti's work consists of dynamic patterns of monochrome canvases. He received the 'Artist of the year' prize of the Circolo della Stampa of Milan in 2014. Simeti passed away in 2021 due to Covid.
