Vilmos Zsolnay was a Hungarian industrialist and entrepreneur. He is known for his work as the director of the Zsolnay porcelain manufacture where he introduced new materials and inventions into the production of pottery and ceramics. Under his leadership, the company grew from a small family-owned business to a world-renowned enterprise. Some of his notable achievements include the discovery of the eosin process with Vince Wartha, which gives articles an iridescent glaze in multiple colors, and the introduction of pyrogranite, a ceramic building material that became popular with Hungarian art nouveau architects.
