Abdul Chitrakar is a self-taught artist from India, born in 1985. He is celebrated for his paubha paintings, a traditional Newar art form. Chitrakar's work is masterful, capturing the iconography of religious figures with great skill. His current exhibition, 'Lok', showcases one of his early paintings, of Ganesh, which he did as a 12-year-old. Chitrakar is also known for his work as a master craftsman, creating intricate sculptures and installations. He believes there is a great need for a rethink of society’s understanding of art, and sees himself as a bridge between traditional and contemporary art forms.
