Albert Fernique was a French photographer born in Paris in 1841 and died in 1898. He was a pioneer of photomechanics and a member of the Société française de photographie. He participated in the Paris expositions of 1878 and 1889, as well as the Anvers exposition of 1889. His atelier was located in Paris, rue de Fleurus. He is known for his photographs of monumental works of art and architecture, including those of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux and the construction of the Statue of Liberty. His technique was particularly effective in capturing ambient light in interior spaces.
