Augusto Majani was an Italian painter, active in a Naturalist style of landscape painting. He was born in Budrio, Italy, in 1867 and died in 1959. Majani studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and the Academy of Bologna, where he later became a professor of decoration. He was also an engraver, ceramist, and architect. Majani's first painting was exhibited in 1880, and he continued to exhibit his work throughout his career, including at the Venice Biennale in 1897. He was a member of the association 'Aemila Ars' and played a role in the promotion of the applied or industrial arts. Among his major architectural projects was the casa Stagni in Canton de' Fiori and the Palazzina Majani, a cafe in central Bologna. Majani's work is held in collections around the world, including the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
