Pala Pothupitiya, also known as Pala Pothupitiye, is a Sri Lankan contemporary artist born in 1972. He obtained his BFA from the Visual and Performance Art University in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Raised in a family of traditional southern Sri Lankan craft-artists and ritualists, his work often incorporates and reinterprets the material and cultural heritage of his upbringing. Pala's artistic journey is considered a rare tale, as he was born to a family deeply rooted in traditional arts and rituals, yet he has managed to carve out a unique space for himself in the contemporary art world.
