Paul Hopmeier is an Australian sculptor born in Sydney in 1949. He studied at the National Art School in Alexander Mackie College of Advanced Education and received a Diploma of Fine Arts. Hopmeier has been exhibiting for over 30 years and has been a leading proponent of public sculpture throughout his career. He has been a finalist in the Archibald Prize in 2001. Hopmeier's work often addresses the relationship between the work and the ground, exploring how it conforms to or breaks free from gravity. He lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
