, a prominent figure in the world of jewellery and fine arts, was born in 1746 in the United Kingdom. His early life was marked by his birth into a large family, being the son of Richard Rundell and his wife Ann Ditcher. Baptised at Norton St Philip, near Bath, Somerset, Philip's formative years were instrumental in shaping his future.
Philip was apprenticed to the London goldsmith's business Theed & Pickett, which later became Pickett & Rundell in 1781. This marked the beginning of his illustrious career as a master jeweller and fine jewellery retailer. His association with royalty further solidified his reputation.
Although primarily known for his jewellery expertise, Philip's artistic inclinations are also noteworthy. Unfortunately, due to the scarcity of available information, his paintings are not widely documented. However, it is essential to acknowledge his contributions to the world of art, even if they remain largely unexplored.
Philip Rundell withdrew capital from the firm in 1823 and passed away in 1827, leaving behind a substantial estate with bequests of £500,000 and the residue amounting to £800,000, which he left to Joseph Neeld. His legacy as a master jeweller and his association with royalty continue to fascinate art enthusiasts.
