Praneet Soi is an Indian artist born in 1971 in Kolkata, India. He completed a bachelor's and master's of fine arts in painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda, India. He currently lives and works in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Soi's practice ranges across painting, drawing, video, and site-specific installations. He is known for his documentation of small-scale factories and one-room workshops in Kumartuli, North Kolkata, since 2008. His work has been exhibited in galleries and art fairs across India, Netherlands, UK, and the United States. Soi has received several awards and recognitions, including the Sahitya Akademi Golden Jubilee Award and the Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation in India. In 2022, he received the 7th JLF-Mahakavi Kanhaiyalal Sethia Award for Poetry.
