Edwina Leapman was born in 1931 in Hampshire, England. She studied at the Slade School and Central School of Arts in London. Leapman was drawn to abstract painting in the late 1950s. She has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and her works are held in various public and private collections, including the Arts Council Collection, Southbank Centre, and the British Museum.
