Tola Wewe, also known as Adetola Festus Wewe, was born in 1959 in Okitipupa, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian Postwar & Contemporary painter who holds a Bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of Ile-Ife (1983) and a Master’s degree in African visual arts from the University of Ibadan (1986). He is known for his originality, simplicity, surface texture, and mastery of colors in his works. Tola Wewe's thematic preoccupations include erotic female anatomy and the folklores of his culture. He is widely acclaimed for his works and is considered one of the most talented minds from the African continent.
