Gerard Paul Phillipe Wertheimer was born to racehorse owner Jacques Wertheimer and Eliane Fischer in Paris on Nov. 9, 1951. His parents divorced in New York two years later. He is a French businessman and art collector, and is the co-owner of Chanel, along with his brother Alain Wertheimer. The two brothers inherited the company from their father, Jacques Wertheimer, in 1974. Gerard Paul Wertheimer is also known for his philanthropy, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare. He is a member of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with an estimated net worth of $30.5 billion as of 2023.
