Sōkei, also known as Gessen, was a Scottish writer and journalist born in Akyab, Burma on December 18, 1870. He died in Beaumont-Hamel, France on November 13, 1916. Sōkei is best known for his humorous and satirical short stories depicting the Edwardian social scene. He wrote under the pen name Saki.
