Isaac Peral y Caballero was a Spanish scientist, marin, military and inventor. He was born in Carthagène, Spain on June 1, 1851 and died in Berlin, Germany on May 22, 1895. He is known for being the inventor of the torpedo submarine, also known as the Peral. During his military career, he participated in the War of the Ten Years in Cuba and died before the Spanish-American War. He is considered one of the greatest achievements in the history of global navigation, being the first underwater vessel powered by electricity.
