In the San Community elder members play a major role in the sharing and acquisition of this knowledge. Children are taught at home about traditional medicine. The children sit together with their parents, watching them prepare medicines the traditional way and learn. The elders would narrate the process and share the details of the medicine and the plant. Through this process, children are taught which herbs to collect, where to find them, and what their medicinal effects are.
