This photograph depicts a meeting between Maria Kuncewiczowa and participants of the Catholic University of Lublin’s Summer School. The parlour of the Kuncewicz house was frequently “filled to the brim” since it became one of the major cultural sites in Poland at the time, as evidenced, among others, by reports of numerous groups of foreign visitors to Kazimierz Dolny. One of such guests was the writer and philosopher Susan Sontag.
