Abram Ross Stanley was born on March 16, 1816, in Salisbury, Herkimer County, New York, to Jedediah and Prudence Stanley. He was a painter known for his portraits. Stanley migrated from New York to Shullsburg, Wisconsin in the 1850s where he settled. He died on June 23, 1875, in Shullsburg.
