Gene Pesek was an American photographer who worked for the Chicago Sun-Times. He was born in Orland Park, Illinois in 1926 and died in 2022. Pesek was known for his work as a photojournalist, capturing memorable shots of events and people in Chicago and beyond. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army. Pesek was married to Dolores 'Duckie' Cook for 61 years and had two children, Debra and David. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his service in World War II.
