Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi (/dʒuˈzɛppe fortuˈniːno franˈt͡ʃesko ˈverdi/), born Joseph Fortunin François Verdi on October 10, 1813, in Roncole, Italy, and died on January 27, 1901, in Milan, was an Italian Romantic composer. His work, composed mainly of operas, combining melodic power with psychological depth and legend, is one of the most important in all history.
