Kathryn Sargent is a British tailor and businesswoman, known for being the first female tailor to open her own shop on Savile Row, the historic street of tailors in London. She was born in London in 1970 and grew up in a family with a strong interest in fashion. Sargent studied fashion design at the London College of Fashion and began her career as an apprentice at Gieves & Hawkes, one of the oldest and most prestigious tailoring houses on Savile Row. She quickly rose through the ranks and became the first woman to be appointed head cutter at Gieves & Hawkes in 2004. In 2009, she left Gieves & Hawkes to start her own tailoring business, Kathryn Sargent Ltd. In 2012, she opened her shop on Savile Row, becoming the first female tailor to do so. Sargent's designs are known for their traditional craftsmanship and attention to detail, as well as their modern and feminine touches. She has been recognized for her contributions to the tailoring industry and has received several awards, including the Walpole British Luxury Award for 'British Luxury Brand of the Future' in 2016. She has dressed many high-profile clients, including the Duchess of Cambridge and Kamala Harris.
