Kawayan De Guia is a Filipino artist born in Baguio City, Philippines in 1979. He works across different artistic practices including drawing, painting, installation, sculpture, and performance. His themes and subjects are equally wide-ranging, from commentaries on consumerism, global trade, and politics to explorations of indigenous cultures and histories. De Guia's artworks often incorporate indigenous and colonial artifacts, playfully transforming them into lavish and ironic critiques. He has exhibited in various galleries and museums, including Silverlens and Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art. In 2016, he was recognized as a National Artist of the Philippines for Film.
