Misheck Masamvu is a Zimbabwean artist born in 1980 in Penhalonga, Zimbabwe. He studied at Atelier Delta and Kunste Akademie in Munich, Germany. Masamvu's practice explores and comments on the socio-political setting of post-independence Zimbabwe, and draws attention to the complexities of human existence and our relationship to the natural world. He works predominantly as a painter and sculptor, creating works that oscillate between abstraction and figuration. Masamvu has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and his work is held in various public and private collections. He has also participated in several artist residencies and awards, including the Henrike Grohs Art Award in 2019. Masamvu currently lives and works in Harare, Zimbabwe.
