Oreste Costa was an Italian painter, born in Florence in 1851 and died in 1901. He was trained under Antonio Ciseri and exhibited frequently in England. Among his works is 'Gli ultimi Sforzi'. His brother Antonio was also a painter. One of his paintings, a genre scene with tippling elderly peasants, is found at the Hillwood museum.
