Robert Street was born in 1796 in Germantown, Pennsylvania, the grandson of an English immigrant who had mistakenly been disinherited. He was known for his portrait, landscape, history, and genre paintings. Some of his notable works include 'George Washington' and 'Portrait of a Woman'. Street died in 1865.
